Latin America - Rooted in People

Connections across borders
Latin America has been important in shaping the relationships behind RafikiArdhi. It is where many connections were formed through shared interests, experiences, and a common commitment to understanding the environment. Although distance means we do not see one another as often as we would like, these relationships have continued to grow beyond the places and moments where they began.

Each city seems to be part of the environment, not an addition to it.

Working together, wherever we are
Good collaborations are not defined by how often people meet, but by what they continue to build together. We remain connected through research projects, exchanging ideas and contributing our different experiences and perspectives. These ongoing relationships are an important part of how RafikiArdhi works: international in its connections, collaborative in its approach, and focused on bringing people and knowledge together across borders.

Working with Soil Consultoria Socioambiental, one of our major partners, we have developed research and tools across several areas:
- Pedological profile modelling: Developing continuous soil profile models and making the methods accessible through our phySpline tool and published research.
- Country-scale soil mapping: Producing high-resolution predictions of soil types, extending the work described in our published research.
- Refining continental soil maps: Translating broad-scale soil information into more detailed local soil type maps.
- Three-dimensional carbon mapping: Calculating soil carbon stocks continuously through the soil profile, supported by our carbon calculator and published research.
Together, these projects bring different expertise and perspectives into the same work. The result is more than any one of us could produce alone: a whole greater than the sum of its parts.
