Privacy
Last updated: 1 November 2026
This policy covers RafikiArdhi’s services: the Check a result add-in for Microsoft Word and the tools on rafikiardhi.earth.
The short version: the add-in and our tools run entirely on your computer and store nothing; Google Analytics counts visits to the website only, never in the add-in; we don’t sell anything about you, and we don’t show ads.
The tools
Our tools run entirely in your web browser. When you open a file, it is read and processed on your own computer, and results are saved directly back to it. No data is transmitted to RafikiArdhi or any third party, and nothing is stored on our servers. We don’t have a database. That makes the tools safe for confidential data, unpublished results and manuscripts under review.
- Share links. Some tools put your inputs into the page address so that “Copy link” can recreate your calculation. That address stays in your browser unless you choose to share it.
- Your units. If you switch between US and metric units, your browser remembers the choice on your device. We never see it.
- Check it yourself. Once a tool page has loaded, disconnect from the internet. The tool still works, because nothing it does depends on our servers.
The Office add-ins
The Check a result add-in for Microsoft Word, and our future add-ins, run inside Microsoft Office on your computer.
- Your documents stay on your computer. Text, equations and numbers the add-in reads from your document, or that you type or paste in, are processed locally. They are not sent to RafikiArdhi or to anyone else.
- No AI, no tracking. The add-ins use no artificial intelligence, and contain no analytics, tracking or advertising. Google Analytics is used only on this website, not in the add-ins.
- Settings. The add-in remembers your language and similar settings on your own computer. You can clear them by clearing Office’s add-in cache.
- Loading. When Office opens the add-in, it downloads the add-in’s files from rafikiardhi.earth and three public code libraries: Office.js from Microsoft, math.js from cdnjs.cloudflare.com and MathJax from cdn.jsdelivr.net. As with any web request, these servers receive standard technical information such as your IP address. We don’t use it to identify you.
Membership
If you join the RafikiArdhi Community, we keep your name, email address, affiliation and, if you give it, your Zenodo username in a private database on Cloudflare, which runs our sign-up service. If you sign up with, or link, your ORCID, GitHub or Zenodo account, we also keep your ORCID iD, your GitHub username, or your Zenodo account number and username, so you can sign in with that account. From those services we receive only your name, your ID or username and, where the service shares it, your email address. We never see your passwords. If you contribute a tool, we use your Zenodo account or username to invite you to our community on Zenodo and to credit you as the tool’s author. If you propose a tool, we keep the details you send in the same database, to review your proposal and contact you about it. We use your email to invite you to our community on Zulip, to send your member code and to send member news. We use your details only to run the community.
The community itself is hosted by Zulip. What you post there, and the profile you create, are handled under Zulip’s privacy policy.
The members discussion on your account page uses GitHub Discussions, shown through giscus. To post, you sign in with your GitHub account. Your posts are stored by GitHub in our public community repository, where anyone can read them, under GitHub’s privacy statement. The discussion loads only for signed-in members.
When you sign in to your account, your browser keeps a sign-in token for up to a week; signing out removes it. You can leave at any time from your account page, which deletes your details, or by emailing us.
Paid versions
Payments for the paid versions are processed by Stripe. We receive your email address, what you bought and the state of your subscription, never your card details. Each purchase comes with a licence key, which we email to you and keep with your purchase. To unlock an add-in, it sends only your licence key to our members service to check that it is active, and it checks again from time to time. Nothing from your documents is sent.
Visit statistics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, how people find us (for example from a search engine or another website), and roughly where visitors are and what devices they use. This helps us decide which tools to improve or build next.
- Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, your browser and device type, the website that referred you, and your approximate location (city or country level).
- Our site analytics record only page visits, never the contents of files or anything you enter into a tool. We have configured Google Analytics not to record the share-link part of page addresses.
- We can’t see who you are. We only see totals and trends.
- Google processes this data under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can see how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
To opt out, you can block cookies in your browser settings, use a browser or extension that blocks trackers, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. The site and all the tools work exactly the same without them.
If you contact us
If you email us, we use your name, address and message only to reply and to carry out any work you ask us for. We don’t add you to mailing lists or share your details.
Client projects
Data from paid projects is handled under the agreement for that project. It stays confidential, and results funded by a client are published only with their agreement.
Children
This site isn’t aimed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change how the site handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
