Calculation Spellchecker for Word

Plausibility checks and an equation checker for research results, beside your document. No AI, just verify.

A Word add-in that checks the numbers in research before it is published: an equation checker and plausibility checks, reading highlighted text or the whole document.

Calculation Spellchecker opens a panel called “Check a result” beside your Word document. It helps authors check their own results before submission, and reviewers check the results in a manuscript. Every check is a transparent calculation, with the working shown and the papers it is based on.

What it does

The Check a result panel listing its checks
Plausibility checks and an equation checker in a panel beside your document, in English, Kiswahili and Spanish.
The equation checker listing rearrangements that do not follow
Catch equations that don't hold. Rearrangements that don't follow and worked examples that don't reproduce.
The kriging check finding a reported error implausibly low
Is the reported error even possible? A kriging RMSE checked against the stated variogram and sampling, without the data.
Model evaluation with an observed-vs-predicted plot and a PICP curve
Evaluate models properly. RMSE, Lin's CCC, an observed-vs-predicted plot and a PICP coverage curve.
Every result in a document checked at once, with problems listed
Check the whole paper at once. Every paragraph and table is read and checked; a click takes you to each problem.
Highlighted text read into a check
Highlight it, check it. The numbers are read from the text and the check runs at once.
Agreement metrics flagging a row that cannot be right
Can these numbers all be true? R², CCC, RMSE and bias constrain each other; a misplaced value stands out.

In detail

Equation checker. Reads equations typed or pasted into Word, or selected in the document, and catches unreadable or undefined expressions, rearrangements that don’t follow, and worked examples that don’t reproduce the paper’s numbers. It can check every equation at once, colour each one by its result and take you to it.

Model accuracy and validation. R² vs. RMSE, agreement metrics (R², CCC, RMSE and bias), classification accuracy, area from a confusion matrix, spatial cross-validation and leakage, and model evaluation with observed-vs-predicted plots and PICP coverage curves.

Spatial structure and sampling. Kriging error vs. the variogram, samples needed for a map, detectable change, effective sample size, and the right pixel size.

Data and units. Carbon stock arithmetic, back-transformation from the log scale, lab method conversions, and coordinates and distances.

Study design. Guided checks for independence, statistical assumptions and model comparison.
